Earlier last week in New York, people made a heart-breaking discovery. As workers collected garbage from the side of the road, something suddenly caught their attention. They heard a dog barking incessantly like it was asking for help.
Because they were in a secluded area, men were in disbelief that there would be a dog wandering off in that place. Still, they went to investigate. And deep into the woods, they found a dog tethered onto a tree.
The laborers were in complete shock seeing the poor animal dog. But as they approached him, the pup showed nothing but happiness that someone finally found him.
New York State Police officers immediately responded to the scene. They took the happy dog to the care of Dutchess County SPCA. And the staffers couldn’t believe how someone could possibly abandon such a gleeful, upbeat dog.
The pup, now named Pesci, was so excited meeting his newfound friends. He didn’t seem fearful of humans. In fact, he has a huge smile ready to greet anyone he gets to meet.
Lynne Meloccaro, Dutchess County SPCA’s Executive Director, describes Pesci as one extremely sweet soul who loves nothing but to be around people. He loves to cuddle and is always ready and willing to play.
While he was severely dehydrated after being left outside at a hundred degrees, Pesci was amazingly healthy. Now that he’s with his rescue friends, he’s been getting all the attention and love that he deserves. Likewise, he now has people to shower with love.
The incident is now under investigation. The authorities are hopeful that soon enough, they’d be able to apprehend whoever is responsible for abandoning the animal.
Meanwhile, the rescue is confident that Pesci won’t be staying long in his shelter kennel. Considering the interest and attention the public has given, he sure will find the best possible home in no time.
