Despite many differences, dogs are capable of being friends with other animals. With their jolly attitude and caring heart, pooches can easily be trusted even by their fellow animals.
This Australian shepherd named Lincoln is a living testament to the abovementioned statement. This after he takes seriously his role as the big brother of a cow named Calvin.
Calvin was born in July 2017 at the Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary in Ontario. Since then, the dog has been looking after the calf. The loyal dog knew how to show affection to his little brother.
Lincoln is also very protective of Calvin because the latter’s life was in danger after he was born. This is because dairy farms in Ontario are notorious for abusing cows like Calvin. They are forced to give birth so that they can continuously produce milk for profit’s sake.
Good thing, though, is that some good-hearted individuals in the farm would like Calvin to have a different future. They then decided to surrender Calvin to a local sanctuary where he met Lincoln.
In a later interview, Black Goat co-founder Megan Mostacci mentioned Lincoln and Calvin’s fantastic bond. For her, the friendship between the two transcends the ordinary. While they are different in so many things, the dog and the cow still jived because they understand each other.
Inside the sanctuary, the two are almost always seen together. Most of the time, Lincoln and Calvin would run around the big space until they get tired. Next thing they will do is nap on the grass when they already consumed all their energy.
Over the years, the two developed their friendship by doing most of their activities together. Although Calvin grew larger than Lincoln in the long run, the bond between the two remained steadfast.
Despite the discrepancy in size, Lincoln still acts as Calvin’s big brother. The dog would reprimand the cow whenever the latter becomes too hard-headed and veers away the right track. Watch the video below about the story of the two.
